The world is now changing faster than ever.
From geopolitical shifts and domestic political upheavals to economic uncertainty, environmental concerns and increasing civil unrest, it’s becoming clear to many that we’re entering a deeply unsettling time in our history.
There are many people who are actively aware and planning for the uncertain times ahead as well as those that know something’s up but are unsure how or where to start in planning or preparing.
This website is a resource for both beginners and veterans alike.
When you think of the term ‘Survivalist’, what image comes to mind?
Maybe a highly-polarized, semi-radical subset of society representing the fringe?
Don’t worry – back when I first started looking into emergency preparedness, self-sufficiency, and survival skills, this was exactly what I thought as well (and pretty much what I found when researching the subject in detail).
However after years of preparing myself and my family to be as resilient as possible to major changes in the world, I’m now looking to rewrite this definition and pull back the notion of wanting to be prepared and survive an emergency situation from this extreme sector that’s hijacked it in the collective public consciousness.
Here’s what I’ve come to understand the real term of survivalist to mean:
Someone with an inherent understanding of the real dangers and threats present in the world looking to adopt a set of strategies, skills, and understanding to help them deal with any events that may arise in an uncertain and potentially volatile future.
This definition means a departure from the usual fear-mongering and conspiracy theory fueled rhetoric that’s become endemic in the field of emergency preparedness and a return to the reality of what it actually means to be armed with knowledge and skills to deal with any number of unknown emergency situations.
A survivalist is someone who knows how to prepare for, survive, and thrive before, during and after adverse circumstances play out or major disaster strikes.
In the distant past of course, almost everybody was a survivalist, knowing how to farm, how to hunt, how to forage, how to fight, and how to keep themselves and their families alive in a harsh and unrelenting world.
Today we’ve become disconnected from these essential skills and this lack of knowledge will potentially become a life-threatening challenge for the unprepared if things ever began to deteriorate past what we’ve become accustomed to.
When it comes to information on the subjects of preparedness planning and self-sufficiency, the internet is awash with information, some of it useful, some of it not so much.
It can therefore feel like navigating a minefield when you’re trying to get to the most critical info without the excess filler – the stuff you actually need to know to survive.
This site looks to break the most crucial information down to the essential points, whether we’re talking about how to prepare your home for a nuclear attack or hurricane ahead of time, through to how to grow a survival garden for long-term resilience.
Disaster and adversity can strike in any number of ways and being prepared ahead of time with knowledge of how to react in an emergency situation can literally make the difference between life and death.
One of the reasons I created this website was to share what I’ve learned over the years about wilderness adventure, disaster planning, emergency preparedness, and outdoor survival.
I’ve tried all the outdoor gear and survival equipment you can imagine, from tents and stoves to water filters and backpacks.
What I’ve found is that while there’s a ton of gear out there to help you plan, prepare, and survive off the grid, when it actually comes down to it, there are some products which are quite simply better than others.
The best place to find this out of course, is in the field, on the trail, in the snow, sun, wind, and rain – basically, in the real world.
Life is hectic though, and frankly there’s just too much information to sift through out there on the subject of prepping, bugging out, and emergency survival equipment, techniques, and skills.
This site is dedicated to everyone who cares about preparing themselves for the uncertainties of the future and has made (or wants to make) survival, self-sufficiency, and preparedness a top priority in their lives.
So, whether you want to brush up on the essential survival skills, find the best tactical flashlight for every eventuality or just want to prepare the ultimate bug out bag for yourself or your family, this website will provide you with the information and content that you can use to help you on your way.
We’re talking product reviews, a look at individual survival tools, bushcraft techniques and skills, geopolitical and socio-economic updates, plans and resources for going off-grid, and plenty more.
